Raw Discovery Ride 2014 — England to Africa & Arctic Heat Cooling Vests

Raw Discovery Ride 2014 - England to Africa in 12 Days

On 19th June 2014, the Raw Discovery team set out from London on one of the most ambitious ultra endurance Arctic Heat Cooling Vests challenges ever attempted. They rode from England to Tangiers, Morocco and back. The total distance was approximately 3,000 miles, completed in under 12 days. That's over 250 miles a day, 18 hours in the saddle, raising money for the charity StreetInvest.

With temperatures expected to reach up to 45 degrees Celsius in parts of southern Spain and Morocco, heat management was a critical part of the team's preparation. The Arctic Heat ultra endurance cooling vest was used throughout the challenge. It helped manage body temperature during the brutal summer heat of the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa.

Ultra Endurance Arctic Heat Cooling Vests for Extreme Heat

At the extreme end of endurance sport, managing heat over multiple consecutive days of riding is one of the most significant challenges athletes face. The Arctic Heat ultra endurance cooling vest provides simple, effective cooling. It requires no power source and no special equipment. It adds just 2.2 pounds, making it practical for even the most remote and challenging environments.

The Raw Discovery challenge is comparable in daily distance targets to the Race Across America (RAAM). This is one of the toughest ultra-endurance cycling events in the world.
